Composite Care Guide

Looking After Assured Composite®

Before installing your Assured Composite® cladding and accessories please take time to read our simple tips and advice which will not only save you time, but also save you money.

Ice & Snow

We advise using a plastic shovel and a salt free ice melt if needed to prevent damaging the composite. If any white residue is left on the composite then wash away thoroughly with a hose pipe making sure the grain is followed.

Scrapes & Scratches

Light scrapes and scratches will eventually disappear with weathering. We advise using pads on the feet of all furniture where applicable and do not drag or scrape anything against composite to avoid deep scratches and scrapes.

Mould & Mildew

We advise removing all pollen and soil as quickly as possible, if left on composite for a long period of time it can cause mould and mildew. We advise using hot soapy water, a soft bristled brush and to wash away with a hose pipe making sure the grain is followed and rinsed thoroughly.

Cleaning

We advise cleaning composite at least twice a year or when needed. Use hot soapy water, a soft bristled brush and wash away with a hose pipe. For a more deeper clean we advise using a pressure washer with a maximum pressure of 1500 PSI and by keeping the hose gun at least 12 inches away from the composite. When pressure washing or hosing down follow the direction of the grain and rinse the area thoroughly.

Water Staining

When composite is new there may be some residual still in the wood component from manufacturing. This may appear the first few times the area is wet and will look like a water stain. Wash the stain using hot soapy water, a soft bristled brush and wash away with a hose pipe making sure the grain is followed and rinsed thoroughly. If water staining is left this will wash away itself once the composite has been wet and dry several times by the weather.

Spot Stains

We advise removing stains as quickly as possible. Use hot soapy water, a soft bristled brush and wash away with a hose pipe making sure the grain is followed and rinsed thoroughly. Tougher stains may need to be lightly sanded (uncapped composite) or a composite cleaner used. If lightly sanded the colour will fade slightly but will eventually clear over time due to weathering. Do not sand any capped composite due to its protective shell.
